[sentinix-list] Intel Gigabit NIC with Sentiix

Greetings. I'm testing Sentinix here and it looks very useful, however
I'm having trouble with our Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop Adapter. I've
specified the e1000 driver but it won't load, gives an insmod error. I
have tried to manually load but it's also giving insmod error. This is
on an SMP box, if that makes any difference.

Aug 27 15:42:22 ec-snort-sensor kernel: Intel(R) PRO/1000 Network Driver
- version 5.0.43-k1
Aug 27 15:42:22 ec-snort-sensor kernel: Copyright (c) 1999-2003 Intel
Corporation.

Is all I get in my syslog when I attempt to load the driver. Another
NIC, a 10/100 NIC, works just fine in the box but I really need gigabit
for this project I'm working on.

Another syslog message, possibly related-

Aug 27 12:00:55 ec-snort-sensor kernel: PCI: Cannot allocate resource
region 4 of device 00:12.1

Trying to duplicate the insmod that I think the system is doing gives me:

***@ec-snort-sensor:/var/log# insmod e1000
Using /lib/modules/2.4.21-smp/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.o
/lib/modules/2.4.21-smp/kernel/drivers/net/e1000/e1000.o: init_module:
No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters,
including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg

Any ideas for assistance greatly welcomed. I'm not familiar with what I
need to do to get this going. RedHat Enteprise Linux Kudzu found the
card without problem, and as far as I can tell I have the proper driver.
Could very well be a PEBCAK problem, though.
